Funchal

Capital of Madeira, Funchal is the largest city of this archipelago. Much of its impressive 15th and 16th century architecture remains today in the center of town left over from the prosperity of the sugar trade days.

The Volcanism Centre

Located in São Vicente on Madeira's north coast are ancient volcanic caves, made up of a series of lava tubes that formed volcanic tunnels. There's also a botanical garden and hiking paths to explore.

Madeira Wine Museum

This museum houses the artifacts of Madeira's oldest wine cellar, showcasing the production and history of this region's famed wine.
